Amritam Project

The Amritam Project was inaugurated at our school by Chief Guest Mr. J. Ramakrishna, Chief Member of Cantonment Board, Mahendra Hills. At the very outset of the function, Principal Brni Sreekumari highlighted the three main principles of Sanatana Dharma – Avatara sidhanta, Punarjanma sidhanta and Karma sidhanta. Ma’am reminded everyone that our beloved AMMA, Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi has been teaching us how to live life to its fullest. The Amritam Project is a perfect example of this. This project has shown us many small, beautiful and practical ways to reach out to society.

To make this project a big success, the school has divided the activities under three clubs.

Samskriti or Heritage Club includes subjects like Social Science, Sanskrit and Value Education.

Kalpana or Literary Club includes languages.

Vasundhara or Science Club includes Science, Mathematics and Computer Science.

Vasundhara Club organized the launching of Haritha Haram, an initiative by the Government of Telangana. The chief guest planted a sapling and gave a good piece of advice from his own experience. Along with our Principal, he handed over saplings to each class which was received by the respective class teachers and representatives. The students took an oath on this special occasion to promote greenery and to reduce, re-use and recycle resources.

Then there was the donation of funds towards the treatment of a fellow student suffering from leukaemia, which was organized by the Heritage Club whose main goal is to inculcate the value of “sealing of desires” and to spread happiness around. The amount was collected by staff as well as students. One of the main contributors was Master J.S.S. Sreekar of Class V, who willingly donated his cash prize of Rs. 8000 which he had won in the National Chess Tournament. The amount was handed over to the mother of the sick child by the chief guest who also contributed money. This kind gesture by the chief guest teaches us that if we take a step forward to help the needy, we will receive help from many others, thus fulfilling the very purpose of starting the Amritam Project.
